Abstract

The Author draws out a possible historical course about the concept of the Unconscious from the initial way in “Naturphilosophie” until the following formulation of psychoanalytic thought. It is stressed above all the conception of a ‘metamorphic Unconscious’ as a centre of transformational processes of the form, meant to do like an imaginary, iconic or symbolic construction. Goethe was the most important representative of the current, started by him, that bases the natural phenomenon analysis on morphological way. It has assumed, as an example drifted by morphological analysis, the novel of E.T.A. Hoffmann “Der Sandmann”. The polarities that develop the formal structure of the novel, allow us to show an inward dynamic, represented by a dynamic system, as a qualitative way, that takes some similarities with Ferenczi’s works about the nature of traumatical events and its consequences in terms of psychologic transformational processes in traumatic subjects. These transformational processes could concern the particular biologic and also psychic function named ‘epigenesis’, whose main activity is regulative to keep on the stability in the evolutive processes.
