Eighty years ago, a man was executed by an angry mob at the Palace of Justice in Rome. A true event that resembles a film script, staging unprecedented and perhaps spectacular violence, but also offering an opportunity to reflect on what it means to ‘do justice’. After a brief description of the historical episode, this article attempts to put this thinking in motion.
